With chops so hot Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, were named IBMA’s 2016 Instrumental Band of the Year for a second year and were nominated again in 2017. Their critically acclaimed record Cold Spell earned them a GRAMMY nomination for Best Bluegrass Album of the Year, yet the accolades don’t end there.

Solivan with Mike Munford, 2013 IBMA winner for Best Banjo Player of the Year, guitarist Chris Luquette and bassist Jeremy Middleton simmer a progressive stew of infinite instrumental, vocal and songwriting skills that are featured again on their new album Family, Friends and Heros which include guest performances by Del McCoury, Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas.

Since leaving the cold climes of Alaska for the musical hotbed of Washington, DC, Frank Solivan has built a reputation as a monster mandolinist and his band Dirty Kitchen has become a major festival attraction. Their respect and deep understanding of tradition collides, live on stage, with jazz virtuosity to create an intense and compelling performance.

What the critics are saying:

“What bluegrass music needs these days, they are master musicians who fully understand the history and tradition but aren’t afraid to explore new sounds and concepts.”
– Bluegrass Today

“The taste I had at Saturday’s show left me wanting more. To me it was proof they are the best instrumental unit in bluegrass these days.”
