With a smoky and seductive alto, 7 time IBMA Bass Player of the year, Missy Raines, heads up her trio featuring mandolin, guitars, bass, and fiddle. The territory the trio covers is broad and the compass is set by Raines, planted right in the center of the stage, directing with her bass as much as she’s playing it. Missy is currently working on her third album for Compass Records to be released in 2018. The new project will feature many Missy originals and a variety of favorites from her huge repertoire of favorite artists.
Missy Raines is a former member of the Grammy-nominated Claire Lynch Band and the acclaimed duo Jim Hurst & Missy Raines. She is on of the most respected and trailblazing figures in bluegrass. Her rich pedigree reaches from legends such as Mac Wiseman, Kenny Baker, Josh Graves, and Eddie & Martha Adcock, to contemporary artists such as Peter Rowan, Laurie Lewis, and Dudley Connell. In addition to Missy, the Trio features George Jackson on fiddle, banjo and vocals, and Ben Garnett on guitar and vocals.
